Oxford

It is a popular tourist destination with excellent guides. My book focuses on the little known aspects of the university such as cracking the code of Alice in Wonderland. A ‘must’ is a tour of the Bodleian Library specifically to see the chained illustrated books. A trip to Boar’s Hill to see the garden where Sir Arthur Evans recreated a replica of his discovery of King Minos’s Palace in Crete. It is also recommended to visit the city during Oxford university’s term time. The Oxford University Gazette lists lectures which are open to the public.

Excursion to Woodstock to see Blenheim Palace where Winston Churchill was born. Visit the shop of Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, the eldest daughter of the 11th Duke of Marlborough who grew up at Blenheim Palace.
